Membership Eligibility 

Who can join the New York Episcopal Federal Credit Union (NYE FCU)? 

  • Members, students, and employees of the Episcopal Diocese of New York, including churches, schools, and recognized charitable organizations managed, controlled, or sponsored by the diocese or its parishes. 
  • Spouses of deceased persons who were within the field of membership of this credit union. 
  • Employees of this credit union, volunteers, members of their immediate family or household, and organizations of such persons. 
  • Corporate or other legal entities within this charter. 

Membership Information 

What is the process for opening an account? 

  • Fill out a paper application at one of our outreach events. 

Is there a membership fee or a minimum deposit requirement? 

  • There is a one-time membership fee of $5.00. There are no minimum deposit requirements for savings or checking accounts. 

How old does a person need to be to have their own account? 

  • Currently, the age limit is 17, but we are in the process of adding savings accounts for minors. 

Once I sign up (paper application or online), how long does it take and how will you contact me? 

  • Please allow our staff up to 24 hours to provide your member number and instructions for signing up for both mobile and online banking. 

Fees 

What are the fees associated with having an account? 

  • Currently the only fee associated with opening a new account is the one time $5.00 fee.  
  • There are no minimum requirements. 
  • No monthly balance requirement. 
  • No ATM fees (surcharge free when we complete our Shared Branching contract) 
  • No check deposit fees. 
  • No internal or external money transfer fee. 

Branch Information 

Where are your branches located? 

  • 1047 Amsterdam Ave. Ste. 118, New York, NY 10025 (on the grounds of St. John the Divine, inside the Cathedral House). 

Where is your second branch and when is it opening? 

  • We are waiting for our certificate of occupancy for the St. James, Fordham branch, which we anticipate opening soon. The address is 2500 Jerome Ave., Bronx, NY 10468. 

What are your hours of operation? 

  • Amsterdam Branch: Saturday 1 PM – 4 PM, Sunday 9 AM – 4 PM, and Monday 9 AM – 4 PM. 
  • Call Center: Tuesday through Friday 9 AM – 4 PM for questions regarding how to sign up, hours of operation as well as current membership questions.

Can I ask a question through mobile banking? 

  • Yes, please allow up to 24 hours for our Member Service Representatives to respond.

How can I order checks? 

  • Your first set of checks must be ordered by credit union staff, but reordering will be available on our website. Customization of checks are available for a small fee.

  • You can deposit checks (Remote Deposit Capture on Mobile app), pay bills, and transfer money online.

How long does it take for a check to show up in my account after I take a picture on my phone? 

  • The remote deposit capture (RDC) feature can take up to 24 hours for our staff to review. As a newly operational Credit Union, we verify all checks that come through RDC. 

Do you offer Zelle? 

  • We plan to offer Zelle services in the future. 

Shared Branching 

Where can I do my other transactions if I live far away from the branches? 

  • We are finalizing our contract with Velera (formerly known as Co-op), a Shared Branching network that allows our members to conduct everyday banking transactions at locations within the network. Shared Branch & ATM Locator

What financial education resources do you offer? 

  • We are developing financial workshops, webinars, and one-on-one counseling services focusing on budgeting, credit improvement, and financial planning. 

Security and Privacy 

How do you protect my personal and financial information? 

  • We use advanced encryption technologies, secure access controls, regular security audits, and continuous monitoring to safeguard our members’ personal data. 

Is my money safe? 

  • Yes, your savings are federally insured up to at least $250,000 and backed by the full faith and credit of the United States Government. 

Who regulates the credit union? 

  • The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA).
